I took my kids to
Wesley Woods last week. It is a great place for kids to discover nature. While the kids were looked for water creatures in a small stream I noticed these giant roots on the bank. I used a tripod because of the slow shutter speed. It was a cloudy day and there was not much light along the bank of this small mountain stream. Because of the evenness of the light caused by the cloud cover I was able to get great details on the surface of the roots. Remember the sun is a small light source on a clear sky day and when it is cloudy the sun becomes a large light source.
