My favorite time to be in the Appalachian Mountains is evening and morning. At these two different times of day the light can be magical. This image was shot in
Grayson Highlands in Virginia on top of a
grassy bald. When composing a landscape image I usually don’t like equal amounts of sky and ground because this produces a very static composition. In this image the sky dominates because it is the most interesting part of the subject showing color and movement while the mountains are dark and absent of detail.
