This is the CSX Rail Tunnel at Harper's Ferry, West Virgina. I set up my tripod and composed the image, then out of no where this rail road worker starts walking out of the tunnel. The figure helped give the photograph scale and also showed movement as he walked toward the camera. Also the comparison of small figure and the huge dark tunnel opening helps give the image some tension and depth. LynnFreeny.com
Ferns are such a familiar site in the Southern Appalachian Mountains. In order for you to appreciate their beauty you have to slow down and look. I decided to use black and white for this subject because the ferns in color seem to get lost in the sea of the lush green vegetation on the forest floor. By bringing the subject down to simple tones I was able to visually separate the ferns from the other plants. LynnFreeny.com
No manner how many times I shoot infrared I am still amazed by the hidden world it reveals. My favorite time to record infrared images is in what I normally think of as bad light. Times when the sun is high in the sky causing bleached out colors and dark shadows is the time to break out infrared. lynnfreeny.com
